Gordon Central Track 2022

Gordon Central Track 2022

Rosemary Nieves, Writer

The Gordon Central Track Team is back on track! The team has officially started their practices and they are off to a great start. According to Coach Rainwater (head coach), practices are going smoothly. There are a few runners that have not been able to make it to practice due to commitment to other sports, but Coach Rainwater and the rest of the team are determined to carry on regardless.

Since their first meet is just around the corner, they cannot afford to wait on those runners, but knowing Coach Rainwater, he will have them ready for their upcoming meet as soon as they finish with their winter sports. Their first official meet will be on the 3rd of March at Gordon Central – make sure to come and support our Track Team as they race their way to success!

Track and Field is one of the many sports that GC has to offer. From amazing coaches to great players who are both hard working and coachable, this year’s Track team is going to be amazing. This team has determination and discipline – which is why they have made it so far and will continue to do so throughout this season.

Additionally, we interviewed the Head Coach about his thoughts and feelings towards his team and the upcoming season.

“Are you excited for this season to start?”

Rainwater: “Yes, I think we’re very young but the people that are coming to practices are very coachable and I think we’re going to do really well.”

“How does Track make you feel?”

Rainwater: “I enjoy it every day because I get to be with the people that are committed to trying and becoming better and working hard with their coaches and with their teammates and so they are some of my favorite people in the school.”

“How do you think your connection with the people on the team is?”

Rainwater: “I think that they understand that I am there to try and help them to be as successful as they can become and because of that, we trust each other.

“What is one thing you want your team to accomplish this season?”

Rainwater: “This season I want us to finish as high as we can in the region and qualify as many people into the sectional and state and just continue improving each year and for each event and stay healthy while we do that.”
