World Coconut Day

World Coconut Day

Daphne Agredano

World Coconut Day is celebrated on September 2nd. World Coconut Day honors all things related to this delectable and wholesome fruit! The coconut is a sweet and widely consumed fruit that grows in tropical areas and is popular around the world. From the water found inside the shell to the husk on the outside, the coconut is sourced. Our skin is moisturized by its oil and the flavor of our meals is enhanced.

History of World Coconut Day

For at least 2,000 years, mankind has found sustenance in coconuts. In early years, coconuts would have made their way across the Indian subcontinent and even to Africa, but they didn’t reach Europe until some point in the 16th century. The Asia Pacific Coconut Community (APCC) established World Coconut Day in 2009 to support and promote the tropical nations that are highly dependent on the growth, production, sale, and export of coconuts. More than 90% of the coconuts produced and sold worldwide are because of the growth of the APCC’s members.

How to celebrate World Coconut Day

  • Crack open a coconut and drink the coconut juice from the coconut.
  • Throw a tiki party with your friends and family.
  • You can cook or bake with coconuts.

Whether you’re on a tropical island for vacation or just relaxing at home, make sure you at the very least have a coconut to savor.
