Top Dog Breed

January 10, 2023
Dogs are commonly know as a man’s best friend. They are protective, caring, and provide unconditional love. These fury creatures have been around for approximately forty-thousand years and have since evolved with the human race. From wolves to domesticated pets, dogs have come a long way in learning how to nonviolently interact with humans and be the perfect addition to many families. Although all dog breeds have undoubtedly won over people’s hearts all over the world, there are favorites when it comes to people choosing their new best friend.
The Labrador Retriever is undoubtedly the number one favorite as it’s always been every year since the 1990’s. Records show that this breed has been the USA’s top dog for the 30th time in a row as of 2022. There are no records for this year yet; however, this breed has been a favorite for decades so it’s safe to assume it won’t be any different for 2023.
Labradors are friendly, outgoing, and high-spirited companions who socialize well with neighbor dogs and get along with the whole family – including children. Their famous coat can vary between, yellow, black, and a luscious chocolate. The Labrador Retriever can, depending on the sex, stand from 21.5 to 24.5 inches at the shoulder and weigh between 55 to 80 pounds, which for many is a point in favor because that is the perfect size for cuddling. However, do not be fooled by their charm and cuteness, these dogs are extremely athletic and energetic, they require an immense amount of play time and, like many other dogs, they are also a high maintenance breed.
Though the retriever is not the only dog chosen by families all around, it is the number one favorite among many; therefore, it is only fair to shine the spotlight on this beloved breed. Despite being the top breed, a Labrador may not be for you. Whether it is because of financial issues, household restriction or just not a perfect match for you, do not be discouraged if a Labrador is not the best choice – there are many breeds who deserve love as well! Do not forget to do your research before choosing your next addition and hopefully a life-long companion.
