Do you use instagram on a Daily? Well, Instagram is becoming PG-p13 parent company Meta announced that everything you see on Instagram will be what you see when you watch a movie with PG-13 movie ratings.
Users that are under 18 will have regulations. Starting Tuesday October 28, 2025, the protections will start, and they will be fully implied by the end of the year, according to Meta. Some indicate that parental guidance should be over accounts for those under 13.
“We hope this update reassures parents that we’re working to show teen share, age-appropriate content, on Instagram by default, while also giving them more ways to shape their teens experience,” the company said in their announcement.
If the user is under 18, the settings will automatically change it 13+. Meaning teens with the setting will be blocked from seeing “alcohol” or “gore.” This goes along with the meta searches it shields teens from suicide, self-harm, and eating disorders.
There is also a setting for parents if they want stricter restrictions on their kids’ Instagram. That setting is called “Limited Content” it filters more content out for teens while restricting their ability to see, read, or leave comments.
Meta launched the idea of “teen accounts” last year to keep the younger users of Instagram safe. The new teen restrictions are followed by YouTube and OpenAI.
