Many platforms like Snapchat, Roblox, Zoom, Canva, Fortnite, Ring, Life 360, etc. were down for a few hours on Tuesday, October 21. Thousands of people reported the apps for being down. The issue appeared to be an outage with Amazon Web Services. Amazon Web Services powers much of the infrastructure behind MANY websites, platforms, and apps. These apps have been impacted, and AWS said they have found “a potential root cause” and are now “seeing significant signs of recovery”. Many people are talking about the outage of Snapchat on the internet; they are mostly mad about Snapchat because that is a platform many others use to communicate with friends and family. Not as many people noticed Roblox, Fortnite, Ring, or Life 360 having outages because many people were at school, but the people that do online school weren’t able to make Zoom calls for school.
