FCCLA: Come Join!

Gordon Central High School’s FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) is a student club led by our education class teacher Mrs. Albright. Mrs. Albright helps members learn about leadership skills and how to give back to the community.

Students will take part in service projects, contest, and school activities. FCCLA helps students work as a team, build confidence, and prepare for their future. Meetings are held in Mrs. Albright’s room, #221. This month FCCLA is holding a January Children’s Book Drive however, every month is something new. They have monthly meetings after school from 3:30-4:30.

The cost to join is $30 which includes state and national dues as well as a FCCLA T-shirt. The cost covers the membership and t-shirt for one year. They have a new T-shirt design every year to keep things updated. Mrs. Albright states, “Anyone can join!” You do not have to be in her teaching as a profession classes to join.

An upcoming event for FCCLA is steam night at Tolbert Elementary on March 5th, students can volunteer to help it’s not a mandatory thing to go to. February 2 they have a monthly meeting after school. February 9-13 is FCCLA week which includes special treats each day for FCCLE members, and lastly the children’s book drive is coming to an end January 30th.

During meetings they discuss previous events, upcoming events, future meeting ideas, and always end with a fun hands-on activity.

The goal of the club is to get students to be involved in their school and give back to the community as well as develop leadership, career, and life skills that prepare you for success at home, school, and the workplace while growing friendships.
