Hanukkah

Hanukkah

Hanukkah is a Jewish festival around Christmas time that people use to rededicate the Second Temple of Jerusalem and they light a candle for everyday of the festival. This lasts for eight nights and its usually in December. The candles represent human knowledge. This year Hanukkah is on December 7th- December 15th. The history channel website says that most people who celebrate this holiday play dreidel games, sing songs, give gifts, eat food, and make blessings. Myjewishlearning.com states that no pork or shellfish is allowed during Hanukkah. Webstaurant.com says brisket, latkes, kugel (sweet casserole), and roasted chicken are all common foods eaten on Hanukkah.
