A Darker Side to Christmas Part 1:

Krampus
A+Darker+Side+to+Christmas+Part+1%3A

There are many traditions for Christmas but there is a darker side to holidays that isn’t very cheerful. In Germany there is an old legend of the Krampus that dates back centuries. When December would arrive the children of Germany would begin to hear quiet whispers or a dark-haired creature with horns. It had fangs and would carry a bundle of birch sticks used to kidnap naughty children.

Although this is a legend there are traditions people have created to celebrate Krampus Day. Towns and villages play hosts to wild ceremonies in early December. The local men will dress up as these fearsome half-goat half demon characters (Krampus). Then they will run around in the streets chasing bad kids. In the Alpine regions they will throw a parade on Krampus Day and it is similar to the men running around chasing children and adults.
