This tradition originated in France, and it arrived to Spain where it was modified. Served on January 6th, in honor of the Epiphany or Día de Reyes in Mexico, this delectable bread commemorates The Three Wise men guided by the Bethlehem star, presenting gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh to the newborn Jesus.

A circular bread takes place in this tradition and a small plastic doll that represents Jesus. When the bread is shared, the person who receives the small plastic doll is responsible to make a party with family and friends and give tamales on the Día de Candelaría.
