The day of the dead is a multi-day holiday that involves family members and friends gathering and celebrating in memory and respect of others who have passed away.
The day of the Dead or Dia de los Muertos is celebrated November 1st and 2nd mostly in Mexico but also in Central America.
Part of this holiday is putting an alter at your house; which has many decorations like flowers, candles, pictures of the ones who are being remembered, and some of their favorite items when they were alive, and not to forget their favorite food too!

A big thing also during this holiday is Skeltons and skulls, people might think that this holiday is just another version of halloween, but they are wrong. You see people in Mexico and some other places put up Skeltons to remember that death is part of life, therefore they put up skeletons doing fun things just so everybody can have fun– Dia de los Muertos is a celebration of life!
To start the party everyone goes to the graveyard and sing songs, clean tombstones, have a giant feast and connect with their ancestors
“According to tradition, the gates of heaven are opened at midnight on October 31 and the spirits of children can rejoin their families for 24 hours. The spirits of adults can do the same on November 2.” says history.com.
