The TikTok ban update was on January 19th. President Joe Biden won’t force the ban of TikTok that is set to take effect the day before he leaves office on Monday, January 20th, he is leaving its fate in the hands of President Trump. President Trump who called to ban the app, has since pledged to keep it available in the U.S. though his transition team has not said how they intend to accomplish that. The push to save TikTok, much like the move to ban it in the U.S, has crossed partisan lines. President Trump has reversed his position on the popular app, having tried to ban it during his first term in office over nation security concerns.
He joined TikTok during his 2024 presidential campaign and his team used it to connect with people. The TikTok ban was on Saturday night January 18th. Around 12 hours after shutting itself down in the United States, TikTok is back for many users almost like it, attributing its return to a move by President Donald Trump to save the app. President Trump also said that he would consider giving a 90 day extension for the app to be sold to a non-Chinese buyer in the U.S.
