Florida citizens were allowed a whole week off of school, while citizens living in Georgia had to go back to school on January 22nd. In Georgia we only got snow for one day. One single day. The snow had melted and turned into ice within 24 hours. Living in Georgia means we never get to sit back and enjoy staying at home due to the multiple inches of pearly white snow. Instead we get little snow flurries and end up going to school in 15 degree weather. Not necessarily complaining, but it would be nice to stay home and build snow-mans instead of waiting 20 minutes for the car to warm up because we have to go to school during the frosty weather.
2025 seems to be the year of ice cold weather and snow! This week in Florida they received almost 10 inches of snow. That’s the most snow recorded in Florida ever. The last time Florida recorded their latest record of snow was in 1954, in which they received 4 inches of snow. Although they received a-lot of snow, there has also been severe damages and fatalities due to the thick snow and freezing temperatures. Throughout their week of snow they have endured power loss, car crashes, and property damage. So while they are enjoying their time off from school, they are losing way more than us.
The coldest month in Florida is January. In 1899 Florida had recorded their coldest day yet which dropped to -2 degrees. The average temperature that Florida receives in January is around 61 degrees. With the Florida weather it all just depends on where you are located, for instance the citizens that live in Tallahasee Florida are freezing on their way to where ever they may be headed, where Miami has the weather for a perfect beach day. This Friday on January 24, 2025, Florida is expected to have their coldest wind , when the front blows out a days long worth of mushy weather. Although its not necessarily a great time to go to Florida right now, its still one of the warmest places in the U.S at this time.
