Today you may have noticed why most Immigrants are not at work/school today, and there is a reason for that, today marks “Day Without Immigrants.” Some Hispanic-owned businesses in the Pittsburgh area plan to close up shops for a day. Closing on Monday 2-3-15, due to a protest of national Immigration crackdown. Many are fighting over weather this is good or bad, however we are just trying to get the news in to people that are unaware of what is happening. Many places include having signs that say “In support of our Immigrant people, on Monday february 3rd, we willbe closed.”

Here are some things that people have protested. “I just wish everybody can realize that we aren’t bad people” Araceli Berumen said. “I hope this opens eyes and makes people realize that these things that are happening are not okay” Jaquelin Berumen said. These people are trying to fight for their freedom of living here, others are fighting to remove them. All of what trump said he wanted for these Immigrants. Donald Trump promises to decimate American communities by targeting immigrants who are already contributing members of society and blocking new immigrants from coming lawfully to the United States. Trump has made clear that he will double down on what he did during his presidency — without regard for the law, decency, or common sense.

ICE has recently been raiding places such as, construction sites, and families. Immediately showing up to places, kickin out and searching for illegal immigrants that are not supposed to be there. Under biden’s administration the ICE police are continuing to carry out of routine enforcement operations. The protests are still being active and we won’t know how it will end, until it happens. And this is why you may have noticed some of your friends or co workers have stepped out of work today.
