Jinx by Margaret Wild
Jen, also known by nickname “ Jinx.” She believes she is cursed after a series of tragic events
throughout her life leaving her feeling useless, and responsible for everyone’s suffering and misery.
Struggling with grief and guilt. She distance herself from the people around her who love her most.
Fearing that she would only bring them bad luck and misfortune. Later throughout the story, Jen
learns to confront her pain and begins to come to realization that she is not truly a “Jinx.” After
falling in love again for the first time. After dealing with the grief of losing the person she carried for
most. Her beloved boyfriend, who sadly passed early in the book causing her to go through the
down fall of emotions, and mixed feelings. Causing her to become the way she was, and then later
in the end of the book found peace again throughout it all. Teaching her that it’s okay to let people
in, and that not everything is as it seems sometimes.
I would recommend this story to my classmates because the story teaches some very valuable
lessons, and shows us that life’s not always going to go how we believe its supposed to. That’s
just something a lot of people don’t know how to deal with yet. We’ve never been truly taught it, but I
truly do believe that this book made a impact on my life and I would most definitely read it again.
