There’s a new voice leading the chorus room this year at Gordon Central High School, Ms. Caycho!
She’s already bringing a lot of energy and excitement to the music program, and students are getting to
know her story.
When I asked what inspired her to become a chorus teacher, Mrs. Caycho didn’t hesitate to give credit to
one of her biggest influences. “I would say my old chorus teacher Dr. Watters. I was very involved in the Chorale’s program, and I
enjoyed singing and music. I think it was my junior year, I was talking to Dr. Watters about what I
wanted to do, and I told her that was thinking about doing accounting, and she said why not music? I said
oh I don’t know, and she said you should get into music education, so she kind of helped me navigate that
and here I am! And now this opportunity showed up so I took it!”

She also shared one of her favorite memories from her own choir days.
“I think my favorite memory would be when we’d travel with Tonal Combustion to different areas and
sing Christmas music. And overall in the performing arts it would be doing the shows like Young
Frankenstein, or Jekyll and Hyde, or Godspell, which is our One Act show this year.”
Mrs. Caycho’s journey shows how one teacher’s encouragement can change everything. Now, she’s
ready to pass that inspiration on to Gordon Central students as they kick off an exciting year in chorus and
the performing arts.
