The Chosen is a historical drama tv show about the life of Jesus Christ, focusing on the perspectives of his disciples, followers, and even opponents, set in first-century Israel under Roman rule. Created by Dallas Jenkins, it expands on Gospel accounts by adding detailed backstories and emotional depth to the lives of the people who encountered Jesus.
The series tells the story from the viewpoint of the ordinary people who met Jesus, such as Mary Magdalene, Matthew, and others. The story is set in first-century Judaea and Galilee, portraying the backdrop of Roman oppression and the political and social environment of the time.
The Chosen is based on the stories found in the four Gospels, though it includes artistic license with added backstories and dialogue to enhance the characters’ humanity. It is the first multi-season series about Jesus and is known as the highest-crowdfunded television project in history. The cast is diverse, and the tone is more human and humorous than traditional religious programming, allowing viewers to connect with the characters and Jesus on a deeper level.
If you love and believe in Jesus Christ, I definitely would recommend this show because it shows why, how and what Jesus went through. Some of the seasons would get you crying. My favorite part of The Chosen is where it showed Jesus helped Simon (Aka Peter) to walk on water and the part where it showed the Lord’s supper. I think the most sad part is where it show Jesus wept in Mary’s arms. If you watch this, it will help you understand the Bible to your own understanding. Enjoy watching it!
