As the World Falls Down, by David Bowie, is a song about a young woman playing with the idea of romance and love, while simultaneously dealing with a great loss in her life. This song was one of five written specifically for the musical film, The Labyrinth (1986). Bowie’s character, Jareth, sings this ballad in the film.
