Cinco de Mayo

Cinco+de+Mayo

As many of us know, May 5th is known as Cinco de Mayo! It all started with a battle after a lawyer was elected president of Mexico but at the time the country had financial problems while being forced to pay by European governments. This started the Battle of Puebla, the battle killed over five hundred French soldiers so finally they decided to retreat. Fewer than a hundred Mexicans were killed. Although not a major win May 5th symbolized victory for the Mexican government and helped the resistance movement.
